According to Buddha
Do not think of yourself as the body, but as the joyous consciousness and immortal life behind it.
a school bell rings off the day
brings in a stray few girls at play
cut school, pink slips are fine
for a good time boys on their mind
a bad girl smoking in school
breaking the rules, acting real cool
talkin’ ’bout all the rock boys
backseat joys with some boy’s toy

Edmonton, Alberta, McKay Avenue School ~ December 2015.
Old and rusty, beautiful images.
Not so rusty just eerie sort of feelings to early school memories….thanks Bob for your comments happy snapping day to you! ☺️
Great photos and a great song!
Thank you kindly John appreciate you saying! Compose a happy day ~ smiles hedy
Unusual, but very, very, striking with the low angles and the black and white. Inspirational. Is the school abandoned? The fresh toilet paper would suggest not.
It is Edmonton’s oldest brick school building…I was looking for John 😉 it was a great space to photograph….here’s a little link maybe you already know of it 😀 http://www.metronews.ca/features/historical-hauntings/2012/10/31/edmontons-oldest-brick-schoolhouse-may-hold-spirit-of-construction-worker.html
Thanks for this link. I’ve only been to Edmonton once: 30 years ago on the way to Expo in Vancouver!
Well not sure how much has changed here in Etown…albeit change is happening in a gradual Alberta sort of way…
Is it weird to say I like old bathrooms like that…because i do. Not in an odd, strange way…they just have a classic look to them. Nice images, Hedy. Have a great day! Cheers =)
I know what you mean Chris they have that memory factor…these ones were fully functioning…it was cool to be in the basement of the school…having a great week…sending you joy for happy snapping! 😀
Thank you so much. =)
them loos are so retro looking. love them
It was a fun place to shoot…went with a group of photographers…and learned more..just sharing…maybe you already know about this school…smiles Gavin! Thanks for your comments 😀
McKay Avenue School, built in 1904, also played host to Alberta’s first legislative assemblies. Today, it’s a school museum.
