According to Buddha

However deep your
Knowledge of the scriptures,
It is no more than a strand of hair
In the vastness of space;
However important appears
Your worldly experience,
It is but a drop of water in a deep ravine.

all i can say is that my life is pretty plain
i like watchin’ the puddles gather rain
and all i can do is just pour some tea for two
and speak my point of view but it’s not sane, it’s not sane

random streets in Lisbon, Portugal ~ April 2016.

  1. Brilliant photos. I really like the last one.

  2. Great photos. My favorite is the covered walkway with people in different stances. The quote was a good reminder of our role in the world.

    • Thank you Lori…Lisbon is beautiful and yes the Buddha always has lots to offer my thoughts…appreciate your comment! Compose a happy day ~ smiles Hedy

  3. Love the b/w photos.

  4. I like your B&W rainy street photos. Some of them radiates depression, others full of life mood. It depends on what are your circumstances. Inside and outside. If you have e.g. a nice, warm flat to get home, the dark rainy weather can be so beautiful as a sunny day. It is the same if you are full of love… Joy on your street ways, Zsolt

    • thank you kindly Zsolt…and yes i agree…the moodiness and choices and of course realities we live…i love all my moments in Lisbon…i like the words of John Ruskin “Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” happy a fun day ~ thank you for your words ~ smiles hedy

  5. that last photo, oh yeah. 🙂

  6. A really fantastic set of photos! My favourite series so far, I think.

    • thank you very much 😀 i hope i can continue to create beauty…the magic of Portugal is not the same raw beauty of Alberta…i’m glad you enjoy the images and i appreciate your comment PZF ~ smiles hedy

  7. I love these photos! The last one is my favorite. 🙂

  8. Really excellent photos, love them.

  9. Great series of photos Hedy ~ all perfect, but the words of “Your worldly experience, It is but a drop of water in a deep ravine” matches the second shot almost perfectly. Beautiful.

  10. The light, the clarity, the depth of field – another set of photographs that has me looking over and over, especially at the way you’ve captured the light in the first, the last, and the colonnades. And the man looking out the window.
    Alison

    • Alison thank you! i appreciate you saying i so love learning about photography and playing with my camera…and learning more about Lightroom for doing little edits..as i love taking the images most at this point…and yes the man looking out the window such an interesting man…he caught my eye 😀 have a happy day sending you smiles!

  11. Look what you’ve done with the rain! Nice one of the man on the trolley – and the damp colonnade.

  12. We are but grains of sand upon a beach.
But sometimes we are shaped up into a mighty sandcastle…tall and proud.
Only to swept back again by the wind and waves.

Yet every grain…lit by the sun…throws out rainbows.

    • throws out rainbows…I like that image very much ☺️ thanks kindly for your comments MDW! Compose a happy day 😃 smiles Hedy
