According to Buddha
Love gives joy. We love love because it gives us such intoxicating happiness. So love is not the ultimate; the ultimate is bliss.
you could have told me yourself
that you loved some one else
instead i heard it through the grapevine
not much longer would you be mine
oh, i heard it through the grapevine
and i’m just about to lose my mind
honey, honey yeah
people say believe half of what you see

Church Street, Church-Wellesley Village ~ Toronto ~ June 2017
Very nice blog and interesting I like very much
thank you kindly Angelilie 😀 i appreciate you saying! compose a beautiful day ~ smiles hedy 😀
the pics pull in the attention, the depth of colors of the urban night, the hum of activity…and i don’t know if this was your intention, but it might be just my current state of mind, but they capture a blunt portrayal of that quest in the hustle and bustle for that “bliss” as if saturating the senses will somehow deliver it, but instead people wander, loiter about in the shiny objects and colored lights of a city scape.
the warm sticky air…the taste of alcohol…the smell of stale beer and a hint of marijuana lingering from the street…saturated and over saturated for sure Eliot 😀 Church street is a wonderful space to roam and wander…and for some it maybe bliss…i think of Rumi’s words ‘This gathering is more like a drunken party, full of tricksters, fools, mad men and mad women. This is a gathering of lovers’…but what do i know i’m an outsider but i do know magpies like shiny objects too 🙂 have a happy day ~ smiles hedy
it’s like going to a foreign country, I imagine. One where they speak almost the same language too. The 4th is my favorite of these, your processing suits the images. Have an excellent day, Hedy. 🙂
well yes it’s certainly not etown…street photography is tough here…so few people out…it can be rather dull…so i love being in TO for that alone…thank for saying your fav 😀 appreciate that and yes b/w did not suit the mood or vibration of the night…have a wonderful day Robert ~~~~ many smiles
I like Eliot’s comment above, yes, you’ve bluntly, and brilliantly portrayed the quest for excitement, a jagged state, not a smooth one…the processing is perfect!
me too Lynn 😀 Church street is lively and full of excitement…and lots of fun people to connect with…and watch…thank you about the processing comment…it’s all new to me so it was fun to play with 🙂 have a delightful week ~ smiles hedy 😀
Wow, I like the look on these Hedy. Nice. Have a great week. Cheers!
thank you Chris a wee experiment in Lightroom and youtube teaching…you have yourself a good new week too enjoy your new beginnings ~ cheers hedy 😀
Great photos, looks like there was a lively night scene. TO gives love and for it to be returned is bliss.
thank kindly Terry and yes i really love TO…it has so much to do and see and so many people…i really enjoy it! have a snappy day ~ smiles
a woman in boots !
i believe so 😀 boots are the best 😀
Oh this is an amazing series. So different from what you usually do like you’ve upped the black and saturation of something. It really works – very atmospheric.
Happy Monday Hedy.
Alison
yes these are a Lightroom experiment for me…as the images were not tack sharp…so i played with them because i mostly liked the story and being there watching the man and his bike…i really enjoy Church Street…i’d had a couple of martinis as well 😀 and yes it was a great atmosphere…so much to see perched up watching out from the patio bar…yes it’s a beautiful day here i captured the sunrise…ready to go! have a great day Alison 😀

Bliss or Peace? 🙂
Not sure… 😉
me either but there are many types of bliss, all of which have one thing in common: they are transient or impermanent….peace Brian 😀 sending you and your loved ones joy!
