According to Buddha

To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.

oh, but if you want to win it
there’s no speed limit
just go faster, faster, don’t be slow
rev it up, rev it up ’til your engine blows

Sangudo Speedway, Sangudo, Alberta ~ September 2017

  1. Ahhh! The noise and smell of exhaust fumes and hot oil…! Looks like an exciting day at the races. I only ever went to a couple of dirt tracks but spent a lot time at road tracks in my youth. Nice set of images, Hedy.

    • oh yes Mic…so so loud and yes smells of oil and burning steam…my adrenaline was pumping…i was close by and as an outsider…it was fascinating to see and photograph…very kind people who also are a “family” so a lot of happiness at the event…in my early years i did ride dirt bikes which i loved..i always loved watching racing…and fast cars…my father taught me about his love of cars so this was a fun event to witness…a total sensory experience! have a beautiful week photographing ~ smiles hedy

  2. Is this you? At a racetrack? You really captured it. Must have been fun!
    Alison

    • yes Alison but no that’s not me 🙂 i was however invited up to the tower to photograph and then i went to the pit…i really enjoyed photographing this event…it’s delightful to see small communities and the subcultures they support…my adrenaline was running high through to the next day…i’ve never been to such a race before so yes very fun!…smiles hedy 🙂

  3. Wow, looks like fun. Nice captures, Hedy. Have a great weekend. Cheers

  4. such a colorful
    and serene
    raceway 🙂

  5. You’re getting around these days! I love the quote at the top. There’s a saying about jumping off a hundred foot pole that has a similar ring to it. I’m really fine with you staying on the sidelines though, and taking pictures! 😉 Love, love that last one!

    • Lynn i love day trips and it’s so easy to get out of Edmonton and find little towns and villages that have subcultures of various things that are all different to me…i was grateful that the woman at the entrance saw me with my little black box and invited to photograph the day…and yes being thrown out the nest creates cognitive dissonance…which means i learn and i love learning new things…i like the last one too…i move to other end of the pit…but it felt less safe in my hedy head 😉 thank you for your thoughtful comments i appreciate them ~ have a fun day ~ smiles hedy 😀

  6. great quote (out of the nest) and love the car photos 🙂

  7. Yes. Continually thrown out of the nest.

  8. Hi Hedy. Very sorry for what happened. A bad week-end. E-Town, Marseilles, Vegas. I hope you and yours are safe. Hugs
    Brian
