According to Buddha

Know all things to be like this:
As a magician makes illusions
Of horses, oxen, carts and other things,
Nothing is as it appears.

want to buy some illusions
slightly used, second-hand ?
they were lovely illusions
reaching high, built on sand
they had a touch of paradise

  1. Tranquility to the max… I love these images! 😊

  2. So beautiful with lots of open land and big skies. Have a great week, Hedy. Cheers

  3. Great photo captures!! 🙂

  4. beautiful black and white images. One of my favorite posts of yours. Well done.

    • thank you kindly Mobius…it was such a bright blue day that turning them in b/w seemed to give them a classic look to me…thank you for saying have a beautiful day ~ smiles hedy 😀

  5. splendid montage, enriching the quote…The “toria maggie danni” was a wonderful little jolt, a text amid the “silent” landscape and lighthouse. Searching on the word “toira” – the urban dictionary says “a person who is loving and will do anything to make sure you come first instead of herself”; but it is also merely a name of a person (which means “bird catcher” according to one). Caught up in a definition, yet “Nothing is as it appears.” 😉

    • thank you kindly Eliot 😀 maggie as i read is “a girl who doesn’t trust or fall in love easily”…”danny’s are people you can’t help but love and tori is “a funny, smart, sweet, sexy and caring girl who loves with all her heart. She’s also a crazy, psycho bitch when you mess with someone she cares about.”…now i giggle 😀 and yes nothing is as it appears…yet 😉 have a funny day giggles hedy 😀

  6. the best experiences
    like this one
    are free 🙂

  7. Well you are a magician with that camera, wonderful photos. Have a great Sunday and wonderful week Hedy.

  8. And everything is as it appears. Admiring Marianne Faithful for finding her way. Desperately trying to recall if I even knew of a lake requiring a lighthouse in Saskatchewan. Well, I don’t so a not so surprised geopgraphically challenged me. I like these strong light images, something to be said for bold lines and contrasts. Have a lovely and peaceful week, Hedy.

    • oh i’ve long loved Marianne Faithful back to her Broken English days and before…i have her LP’s still…and yes Cochin is home to the only lighthouse in Saskatchewan…it was odd/weird to see…a little surprise on the endless land 😀 Saskatchewan has a lot to see and experience…it’s an underrated province in my mind…i will explore more…thank you kindly for your thoughtful comments Robert appreciated! smiles hedy 😀

  9. Really beautiful photos–so creative! It’s pretty cool to be able to climb up and see the landscapes from up there. Thank you for sharing! <3

    • indeed Raven Wolfe…recovering from a cold i did note the 154 steps 😉 just another reminder we live on flat lands…gotta start doing my stairs when i come back to Edmonton…big hugs sending joy from Regina <3 😀

  10. magical moments are found here in words and photos
all you need is some imagination
    splendid day to you Hedy

    • dear Eddie thank you so much…i was joyful to hear you were safe yesterday…have a good day and i’m sending sunshine smiles down your way ~ and yes imagine as John Lennon sings 🙂 😀

  11. There’s a good quote! Your lighthouse takes many forms, morphing from one to another, are any of them real? Funny that I was thinking about similar questions the last few days. I really like the way you look up at and out from the lighthouse, so you situate it. And the graffiti. All of a piece. Good stuff Hedy!

    • yes Lynn i feel/see a connection too…appreciate your thoughts…and i’ve been thinking about self compassion…of course of others and friends and the world…but also for self…and i used just a part in this quote…the full text is in The Heart of Compassion: A Practical Approach to a Meaningful Life…off to hang out with foto friday friends so i’m planning a fun day! have a fun time with your little black box too 😀 <3

  12. Very nice shots. B&W suits you.
(Life is but a walking shadow…)

    • reading your words “Life is but a walking shadow”…made me smile…it has also stuck in my hedy head 😀 i like it ~ thank you Brian 😀

      • “Hedy head”? Sounds nice. Words are not mine though… And though somewhat devoid of hope, they do sum up the absurd of life. Muttered by Macbeth as he faces his doom:
        “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
creeps in this petty pace from day to day.
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
        the way to dusty death…
        Out! Out! Brief candle!
Life is but a walking shadow.
A poor player who struts and frets
        his hour upon the stage…
        And then…
        Is heard no more.
It is a tale told by an idiot,
        full of sound and fury….
        Signifying…
        Nothing.”

  13. Oh such wonderful images 😃 clever you!

  14. These images leave me with the feeling I am flying. Love the feeling of the land sweeping into space, the undulations, the casting of shadow, and the waves of grain…

    Peace
    Michael

    • often i feel that i’m on top of the world in these spaces in Saskatchewan…it’s so flat…and the lighthouse is just quirky…all ways to make wee little towns and villages interesting places for tourism…compose a peaceful and calm day Michael…appreciate your thoughtful comments ~ smiles hedy many! 😀
