According to Buddha

Let the ugliness of unkindness in others impel me to make myself beautiful with loving-kindness. May harsh speech from my companions remind me to use sweet words always. If stones from evil minds are cast at me, let me send in return only missiles of goodwill. As a jasmine vine sheds its flowers over the hands delivering ax blows at its roots, so, on all who act inimically toward me may I shower the blossoms of forgiveness.

i like digging holes and hiding things inside them
when i’ll grow old, i hope i won’t forget to find them
’cause i’ve got memories and travel like gypsies in the night

i’ve got no roots, but my home was never on the ground
i’ve got no roots, but my home was never on the ground
i’ve got no roots uh uh uh uh
i’ve got no roots uh uh uh uh

Abandoned Vineyard Mansion, River Douro, Porto, Portugal ~ April 2018

  1. Cool building. What a find! I hope your travels are treating you well. Hedy. Oh, great song the local Indy station plays it. Cheers

    • thanks kindly Chris…back now and getting back into the etown rhythm….yes Alice Merton’s voice is beautiful to me and I love her compositions and song writing…happy Sunday ☺️💫☀️ have a good one!

  2. Nice pictures

    Kind regards,

  3. Fantastic. Interesting building.

    • Humble thanks Rabirius…yes so fascinating and the best part there was of no sign saying ‘no trespassing’…so one can snoop and peek around…always makes for an exhilarating adventure…I’m always on hyper alert in abandoned spaces…very fun! ☺️💫🤓 happy day to you smiles hedy 🙂

  4. Those vines are incredible! Looks kind of dangerous in some areas–you’re brave! That third pic is amazing–but it scares me to think how you made it up there!
Hope you’re having a really nice time–stay safe!

    • ha ha…well only a little…always an adrenaline rush…back now so this spring we must connect…no excuse I see the stables nearly daily Raven Wolfe…life is full but there is time ☺️💫❤️

  5. awesome pics of an interesting building and you captured its essence

    • A tad eerie I’ve got no doubt in Canada it would be zoned off limits and no trespassing…but an adventure for sure Buddy ☺️💫 smiles hedy

  6. Beautiful

  7. Loving the words and photos

  8. Your pictures are amazing. It feels as if they are all telling some story. Congrats on being discover-ed. I am happy to be here.

  9. Great images. Beautiful even in its decline.

  10. amazing pictures.I love the fact that you make the ordinary look so beautiful and comforting and also amount of effort you have put into it.

  11. wow, this house literally good a lot of roots… 😀 😉 …wonderful warm and calm mood in your images 🙂

    hehehe… …neighbour of the beast number! 🙂 🙂 ..what is it… …664 or 668 😀

  12. The last photo is wonderful – all that detail – and I like the little glimpses of tile in one of them. A great song, too!

  13. Great photos Hedy .. this mansion would have been a beauty its day. Shame that it is decaying .. I’m sure there are many stories here

    • can you imagine Julie…yes the views and the vineyards…there is a lot reconstruction occurring in Porto and Lisboa…I was amazed at the amount of cranes…and the skyline was filled with them…gotta learn to photoshop them out 🤓;-) smiles hedy

  14. I absolutely love this song…first heard it from another blogger.

    • yes K E 🤓 Alice Merton is a German-Canadian-English singer and songwriter…love her works 💫 have a joyful day ~ smiles hedy

  15. I love the quite landscapes you capture. They make me think of Pessoa and his Rua Dos Duoradores. Portugal looks nice. I have heard is socially accepted sadness. The opposite to my country, sadness is a taboo.

    • yes I’ve read and seen that emotions are cultural practices…emotions can used in powerful ways as we know…some say they are gateways into the social and material world…I really enjoy Portugal and the people we meet…I’m not sure what emotions are accepted but I do know that with friends conversations among the Portuguese themselves was lively…I will note what you say and see next time or ask my friend…and yes Lisboa is also beautiful to me 🤓💫 compose a beautiful day and thank you for your comments ~ smiles hedy….can I ask which country you are from?

      • I live in Colombia. Sometimes indicated as the happiest country in the world. Sincé I am a child, I believe behind happy faces there is just sadness,

        • I’ve been to Bogotá…I only know a few Columbian people through connections with wheelchair basketball…and I think a lingering sadness exists everywhere…but I don’t know…I just think we are all living as humans making the best experiences we can within the contexts we currently live…sometimes changes are not possible and I’ve learned to witness those and step back so I find joyful moments in each day…but that sounds too easy I know…but I try…and I also know as outsider I don’t know…but now it is wonderful we connect for this moment and I send you some joy…with a sincere smile…and a hug! hugs are wonderful too…so nice to connect with you elojodehorusweb…I read your title of your blog…powerful words from Paracelsus…I appreciated that connection as well ~ have a good evening ~ hedy ☺️💫

          • Thank you for your nice answer. I belive joy exists but in the deep side of the heart. I am just starting with wordpress blog. I hope it is fun.

          • enjoy I post 2x a week…I enjoy composing posts very much…sending you creative and productive vibes ~ hedy 😀 💫

  16. I’m not into praying… but that citation from the Buddha reads like a prayer or a mantra… the beautifulness of the thoughts calmly and peacefully expressed therein stand tall against the violent day-to-day reality of living and suffering in this brutish world…

    • nor am i…perhaps, it’s another artificial category as a mantra might be seen as a pray by some too, who knows Peter, but yes I can re-read ‘My life as Yogi’…and find something to chew on daily 🤓…here on sloppy I tie my hedy thoughts to buddhist quotes as a way to make another meaning of living a life here in our ‘brutish world’…indeed somedays…BIG smiles and sending you joy for a peaceful afternoon Peter ~ hedy ☺️💫

  17. Thank you for reminding me of “forgiveness”. (I have a couple of toxic people nearby…)
And those photos are unbelievable. A scenery for a movie.
(Love how you change your style and subjects)

    • Ctrl+Alt+Del
it is fine to release toxic humans…it’s wonderful and caring for self…take care of you Brian 🤓💫

travelling and photographing is a gift…also just nice to get away and see other spaces and places…the colours in Portugal are so different than bright blue Alberta…I had so much fun with my little black box…and yes lots to play with in LR…been having fun with curves too 🤓💫☺️smiles hedy…so slow on responding…smiles
