According to Buddha

You have to have a lot of compassion for the stages people are in. Souls are neither nor evil. Actions are good or evil. Motivation is good or evil. Personalities can be good or evil. But the essence of being is neither good or evil it just is. And it sometimes it has heavy stuff to work out and other times good stuff to work out.

the future’s in the air
i can feel it everywhere
blowing with the wind of change

  1. Great posts. ❤🙏

  2. the situation scares me a little. Best regards

    • depends on which situation Niewidka🤔…my experience with humans at this time has been positive…I believe there is love, mutual regard and community…we will all thrive…I’m in western Canada and sending you all good things 🙃🙂🤗 hugs hedy

  3. Such beautiful truths and photos Hedy! It’s a good time to hear those words! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Cindy

    • Thank you kindly Cindy…well I had imagined a landslide but ok..🤞so the quote was for me 🤓🙃🙂😉 of course glad you appreciated it too…stay well ❣️🤗

  4. Icy beauty. Have a great day, Hedy. Stay warm.

  5. I love the quote and the photos are superb. Hope you are well, Hedy. 🙂

    • Thank you kindly Vicki yes I’m in Alberta…witnessing down below…and we’re in our own conservative/fascist type government here…I live in the one orange district…so among some like minded humans…but I don’t belong here 🤓🙃🙂…hope you’re doing good too! hugs hedy

  6. These images are so beautiful, Hedy, vast, and stronger than we are. I can’t say I agree with the quote this time. I don’t think actions, motivations, personalities, etc. are ‘good’ or ‘evil’ – the world is much more complex than that, and those value judgements don’t help open minds. Having compassion for what someone else is going through is beneficial but again, why judge where someone is at? But that’s OK. 😉

    • neither good or evil it just is…in my experiences as a woman…I think my perspectives have been different and have changed with time…I’m reminded of Nel Noddings book Women and Evil…

“Human beings love to fictionalize evil–to terrorize each other with stories of defilement, horror, excruciating pain, and divine retribution. Beneath the surface of bewitchment and half-sick amusement, however, lies the realization that evil is real and that people must find a way to face and overcome it.”

with love and open hearts we can see each others stories, maybe…I don’t know.

be happy ~ sending you all good things ❄️💙🤗

      • And it depends on semantics…that’s a good quote from someone I haven’t heard of…sending positive thoughts your way, too, and isn’t it nice that we can celebrate tonight… 🙂

        • oh for sure Lynn 🤗🙃🙂and yes…and now the shenanigans🤦‍♀️🤓but really no surprise as many speculated this from the celebrity president…can’t end soon enough!

  7. Beautiful images Hedy, and I love the reminder of the Buddha quote. We’re all doing the best we can.

  8. I am not sure that all souls are good. There have been some over the centuries that seemed evil, not just by their actions but by their seeming indifference to the results of those acts. That may have been a case of souls developing that way and, of course, who am I do dispute the Buddha’s wisdom. 🙂 But those numbers are small, despite the hugeness of their effects, and most of us do start this life as good and evil is learned.

I wouldn’t say that I am jealous of your ice but pancake ice is cool and I am looking forward to another season of ice photography. It’s part of my love/hate relationship with the cold. 🙂

    • yes Steve I also have wondered about what you write here 🤓…in my experiences I’ve all been a doubter about actions and consequences but I have come with time and good humans I also grasp open hearts…I’m a sloppy buddhist and these are the words of Ram Dass…I’ve gown very fond of his teachings…well they melted but now we have snow ❄️ so yes I’ll be out photographing that again…repetition of the seasons. sending all good things ~ smiles hedy ☺️💫

      • I was moving to Nantucket one summer and “Be Here Now” had a transformative effect on me. Interestingly, he had an ashram a few miles from where I live. Sadly, I never visited it although I do use the parking lot when I visit a waterfall behind the house. It is not a fancy structure but the nearby Peace Pagoda is remarkable.

  9. Excellent photo’s! Love nr3! and: ‘But the essence of being is neither good or evil it just is.’ So true.. See you, Hedy.

    • Thank you for saying Harrie and yes I’ve worked at the evil story…it’s a tough (er) one for me so I also appreciate what Ram Dass says here…yes see you! hoping all is well smiles from snow Etown ~ hedy ☺️🤗🙃

  10. I love your posts! Such truth! We just are! Neither good nor evil… Indeed! Are you living out of your van! I have thought about seeing the world doing that…

    • humble thank you sweetspontaneous ☺️🙏 I appreciate you saying…and no not living out of van although I think it’s a fabulous idea…just leave it all behind and take a trip…Im liking the idea…maybe after January now🙃🙂 have a joyful day ~ smiles hedy

  11. Great testimony that the cold is coming…
But then change has come… 👏🏻

  12. I love your opening:
“You have to have a lot of compassion for the stages people are in. Souls are neither nor evil. Actions are good or evil. Motivation is good or evil. Personalities can be good or evil. But the essence of being is neither good or evil it just is. And it sometimes it has heavy stuff to work out and other times good stuff to work out.”

Nodding. Things are what they are when we see past blind spots of expectation, and find the workability in the trouble as we shed the not-things (which are endless, futile, explanatory petitioning for permission). I love the opening as there is a “Don’t waste trouble” quality to it, seeing the justice of how something actually is, and living with it… even if that means dispensing with that thing. I’ll offer some Morihei Ueshiba to dance with the opening:

“When you focus on the ‘good’ or ‘bad’ of your fellows, you make an opening in your heart for maliciousness. Testing, competing with, and criticizing others weakens and defeats you.
Crystal clear, sharp and bright, the sacred sword allows no opening for evil to roost”

    • the opening words are from Ram Dass Jordan…once a while ago I did study Uechi-Ryū…I wasn’t so good at the sword part…that’s when I started yoga…peace warrior I was told…just looked up Morihei Ueshiba…thanks for this 🤓 have a joyful day ~ smiles hedy ☺️

      • You’re welcome, Hedy. Great that you looked up Morihei Ueshiba. You might resonate with his Art of Peace as translated by John Stevens.

I will have a joyful day, Thanks much for that. May Moira’s blessings of internal rhythm and internal sense of time enliven the clarity of yours. 🙂 I love that yoga, in a way is the Self as Sword sheathed in the solid boundaries of our body.

“Crystal clear, sharp and bright, the sacred sword allows no opening for evil to roost.” ~ Morihei Ueshiba
