According to Buddha

Only the wise know just where predestination ends and free will begins. Meanwhile, you must keep on doing your best, according to your own clearest understanding. You must long for freedom as the drowning human longs for air.

’cause i don’t care if you’re going nowhere
just take good care of the world

air quality throughout Strathcona County ~ a day ago ~ Fort Saskatchewan, AB ~ February 2021

  1. I love this. Thank you!

  2. Certainly something to consider

  3. Such striking images. I’d forgotten how powerful the plumes are in extreme cold. Looking beautiful but also telling the truth.
    Alison

    • yes powerful the plumes…indeed Alison…especially with the brutal cold we’ve had…apparently these are some short-lived but concentrated plumes of toxic chemicals…and well who knows these days with telling the truth…
I was told no photos and to delete them. 🧐🤓
happiness your way ~ hugs hedy 🤗

  4. I like the blue sky, Hedy! 🙂

    • well Miriam that is our Alberta blue sky…well mostly…who knows what’s in those found smog-causing chemicals here…
Many smiles from sunny blue Etown…we are warming up hooray ~ needing you joy hedy ☺️🙂🙃🤗

      • I hope the chemicals are not causing problems, Hedy! Long time ago, the chemicals is a small town caused women’s miscarriage, as people found out eventually.
Good to hear it’s getting warmer where you are. 😎😊☀️

        • I don’t know Miriam but I’ve read there are high asthma rates for children…I’m not sure as I’ve not researched it but there is something I’m the air I could taste and smell it…went to other space with woods and delicious sun and yes warming feels so good! 👌☀️🙋‍♀️

          • Probably asthma is an indication of something in the air, Hedy. Sometimes it takes something drastic to get the attention to find out if there’s a problem. If nothing like that happens yet, it could be okay. 🙂

  5. Wow. Oil refinery or chemical plant?

Your quote reminds me of Sam Harris’s book “Free Will”. Have you read it? He basically comes to the conclusion (I’m simplifying, of course) that free will is an illusion but that its basically pointless not to continue behaving as if it isn’t. I have found this thought (even if it is just a thought experiment [I take issue with a lot of things about Mr. Harris]) to be an immense help in finding compassion for others.
    Peace to you, my dear–
    JCC

    • wow right…ugly…smelly…I could taste the air…this is “Alberta’s Industrial Heartland” one of the largest locations for chemical, petrochemical, oil, and gas investment…
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberta%27s_Industrial_Heartland

I was actually told that I am not “allowed” to photograph there without consent…and I was asked by security to delete my photos…🧐🙄…I was also told if I want to take photos I can call human relation for permission…still waiting on that return call from Shell Scotford…anyways, always seems curious to me when I’m on public roads…and what are they hiding?

I’ve not read Sam Harris’s book “Free Will” yet…I see I can add to my audio list thank you for this Johhny appreciated 🙏I went back to the work of Paramahansa Yogananda for the quote here…peace and joy back at you JCC ~ smiles hedy ☺️💫

      • Hmm…Sounds like they must be a US company……
As for Mr. Harris, I would recommend rather large grains of salt with a lot of it, but still, I take from it what I can.
        –Peace

        • Always I take what works and let the rest go as I read … I think it’s Shell but there is a change going on…can’t find much on it…lots of cover stories which always makes me curious JCC … peace to you as well 💫🙏

  6. Where the Clouds are made…

    • hmmmmm not sure but it’s known as Alberta’s Industrial Heartland…

hoping you’re snow has melted we are out of our vortex of brutal cold now…feels like summer 😉 hugs over the pond ~ hedy

  7. The refinery stacks look familiar, except that ours aren’t set against a vast plain and an even more vast, deep blue sly. Nice!

  8. Petrochemical works. I read the wiki article about the plant. Apparently, it is part of a coal gasification process, with the end product a light, sweet crude ready for refining. Because of the hydrogenation process Shell uses, the crude that is produced is cleaner than your standard light, sweet crude (lower sulfur oxides, lower nitrogen oxides) which you want in fuel products. It might be forever before you hear anything back from Shell. Oil companies are notorious for being “reluctant” when it comes to public/media relations. They probably see you as “Hedy the Activist” and not as “Hedy the Photographer/Artist.” The smoke plume images (2, 3, 4) would make for excellent abstract renderings.

    • maybe…they haven’t responded yet…I’ll nudge them next week…my researcher brain 🧠 does emerge…it’s also curious to me…happiness your way David ~ smiles hedy ☺️💫

  9. Freedom indeed. 👍🏻
    Dankje wel, hedy.

  10. Hey Miss Hedy those are some amazing shots you have there! Beautiful and yet worrying reality. Glad you didn’t delete those pics! The quote is wonderful .. hugs from Frog Pond 🤗

    • No I did have a wonder about authority and photography rules in public spaces….it’s a strange site when it’s so cold…hugs received from Frog Pond which looks amazing by the way 🤓☀️💚💫 hugs hedy
