According to Buddha

It is very good to recite the mantra
Om mani padme hum,
but while you are doing it,
you should be thinking on its meaning,
for the meaning of the six syllables is great and vast.
om mani padme hum x1000 (at least)

  1. The first word Aum/Om is a sacred syllable in various Indian religions. The word Mani means “jewel” or “bead”, Padme is the “lotus flower” (the Eastern sacred flower), and Hum represents the spirit of enlightenment. The middle part of the mantra, maṇipadme, is often interpreted as being in the locative case, “jewel in the lotus,” Sanskrit maṇí “jewel, gem, cintamani” and the locative of padma “lotus”. The Lotus is a symbol present throughout Indian religion, signifying purity (due to its ability to emerge unstained from the mud) and spiritual fruition (and thus, awakening).[10] Maṇipadme is preceded by the oṃ syllable and followed by the hūṃ syllable, both interjections without linguistic meaning, but widely known as divine sounds.

    • I remember one of my first yoga teachers saying the ‘correct’ Aum…and this is so lovely you share the connection here Shaharee ☺️🙏🤓compose a beautiful day ~ sending joy hedy ☺️🌞💫

  2. How weird! I’m just reading about meditation (Total Meditation x Deepak Chopra) and he has a whole chapter on mantras. Day one, OM, day two, HRIM……..! The first time I knew about Om mani padme hum was reading Peter Matthiessen’s The Snow Leopard, back in the 80s.

    • Peter Matthiessen’s The Snow Leopard will check it out ☺️🤓sleep is still my best meditation … I enjoy hearing mantras and singing bowls as well … lots to choose from these days ☺️💫have a still day Ashley 🤍🕊

  13. There are some days when I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone. And, it’s not for a few hours. But for few days or maybe a week or so. Long as I don’t see Rod Serling off to the side explaining my predicament to the audience.

The train to Willoughby may not be too bad. It seems to be a nice town. 🙂 😉
