According to Buddha

We are empty, or rather the matter of which we are composed is empty. But I must emphasize that emptiness does not mean nothingness. Some commentators have been mistaken when they have accused Buddhism of being nihilistic. We believe that the world in which we live is part of a flux, a stream of events. This does not mean it is nothing. Everything depends on everything else. Nothing exists on its own. On account of all the influences that come to bear upon them, things appear, exist, and disappear, and then reappear again. But they never exist independently. Form is therefore empty, by which we mean it is not separate and independent. Form depends on a multitude of different factors. And emptiness is form because all forms emerge from emptiness, from this absence of independent existence. Emptiness exists only to give rise to form.

strange, i’ve seen that face before
seen him hanging ’round my door
like a hawk stealing for the prey
like the night waiting for the day

  2. Dear Hedy,
it’s interesting what you write about emptyness and form is actually the same what structuralists like Roland Barthes wrote as well. A connection of old wisdom and modern philosophy.
    Wishing you all the best
    The Fab Four of Cley
    🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • ☺️🤓🙏thanks Klaus ‘the Fab Four of Cley’🤓☺️ yes…“resistance to any reductive system” and an “uneasiness of being a subject torn between two languages, one expressive, the other critical”…and apparently in his final works he became increasingly interested in Buddhism…after his mothers death…thanks for noting this…always enjoy ~ smiles hedy 😁

  3. Wow, these are just stunning. Did you have to wait long for them to spred their feathers for you? Have a great week, Hedy.

    • It was so fun to see…a grateful surprise Chris 🦚amazing plumage right🤓🦚🦚a little dance…have a fun week too ~ sending joy hedy💫

  4. what beautiful displays

  5. I love peacocks. He put on a show for you,

  6. My eyes easily see the magnificent form illustrated here by
your great photos of the peacock. Always dependent
on many sources, a life never stops growing.
an interesting post Hedy. hugs, Eddie

  7. What can you say? Nature is remarkable!

  8. Someone may have caught his eye, or was being flirty. It’s like when a male turkey is trying to impress the female turkey traveling in his group or in another group. 🙂

  9. Just think, humans have to invent fancy materials to create clothing for themselves and these birds just naturally have coverings such that we could never make.

  10. The usefulness of a pot is in its emptiness. Nice post.

  11. Amazing dance. Great shots.

  12. Thank you for sharing your interesting and thought-provoking intro, and of course, your photos are stunning.

    • Been reading some more from Dalai Lama🤓☺️and the peacock just performed perfectly that morning Michele🦚🙂🙃sending joy for a good day ~ hedy☀️💫

      • A wonderful treat when everything comes together. Your posts are packed with wisdom and beauty. Thank you, hedy. 🌞 Wishing you the same.

        • Thanks kindly Michele appreciated that was my intention with this blog🤓☺️with nudges from several good humans for me to look at beauty …I’ll probably always be a sloppy Buddhist at this point…so much to read from them all🙃🙂happy day☀️

          • You are most welcome. A wonderful intention that you are succeeding at! Enjoy your reading and thank you for sharing your learning and insights with us. 🌞

  13. Stunning Pictures Hedy with your words of beauty and truth always! 💖💖🌻🙏

    • Well the Dalai Lama does have much to say and much for me to read🤓☺️the peacocks provided a grateful surprise🦚🎶🦚🎶👣it was fun! Have a productive week Cindy ~ hugs hedy 🤗💫

      • Yes indeed he does and i sure wish the world was listening to his words, LOVE peacocks.. a lovely surprise indeed.. thanks Hedy! You troo! 💖🌻

    Alison

  15. These photos are amazing! ❣️

  16. A peacock and emptiness…
L’être et le néant by Sartre?
    😉🤗

  17. The wisdom you share here: “We are empty, or rather the matter of which we are composed is empty…” and the incredible, “full of beauty” shot of the peacocks somehow go together simply perfectly. I love too how the ancient wisdom of the past is now the cutting edge of physics and understand of matter and universe today. I hope it is a sign of our positive evolution 🙂 Wishing you a great weekend, Hedy. Take care.

    • I thought so too Randall🤓🙏yes we can do better…and I also hope its’ a sign of positive evolution 🤓imagine🕊seeing smiles and joy hedy🤍
