According to Buddha

How wonderful it would be, I thought, if only we could practice the teachings of the Buddha as he really taught them from his own experience – free from the clouds of religiosity that often surround them. Yet it’s difficult to distinguish the tools themselves from their cultural packaging.

humans who agreed to be photographed yesterday ~ Etown – Amiskwaciwâskahikan ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ ~ April 2022

  1. <3

  2. Excellent shots.

  3. Wonderful Hedy. Tattoos and a Beatle lover. The third picture is intruiging!

    • the whole day was intriguing and talking to humans to get permission feels very different…and yes the butt shot…the humans being inked are difficult to capture…super challenge for me with all the extra artist lights🤓sending joy over the pond Peter ~ hugs hedy

  4. So interesting to me to see the Beatles pins and medallions juxtaposed with the tattoos, and to reflect on the accoutrements of self-expression and meaning. We really are fascinating aren’t we, with our personal force fields of loves and associations? As with the Buddha’s teachings, it’s difficult if not impossible to disconnect the true essence of people from their wonderful arrays of expression–it’s almost like that which is most essential in us is the gravity that holds the rest in orbit… Lovely images, Hedy!

    • indeed ‘we really are fascinating’…I so appreciate your words and thoughtfulness Michael…the way you tie my posts together…heartfelt ~ sending hug hedy 🤍🤗🕊

  5. Nice shots.

  6. wow Hedy that first picture confirmed my reason for no tat’s on this body.. I’m a chicken for pain even i birthed all 4 babies naturally… lol Great shots i must say art is art and so much appreciated! 💖

    • right🥹 tattoos and piercings…I’m not into adding pain to my body either🤣I’ve had former students suggest…but nah I’m a grandmother seems like not so much now👵🏻💃🏼I also thought a lot about art and artists lives🤓happiness your way hugs hedy

  7. The Beatles pins, now those are hard to find … at least not for the person that owns that bag. 🙂

Dyatlov, if in reference to the infamous pass in Russia, it’s been determined the mysterious incident was caused by a very large avalanche.

    • right..sometimes I can find the weirdest connection🤓🥹nine members of the Dyatlov trekking group perished in 1959…I didn’t know David that it was an avalanche as I’ve not read the book…sending joy hedy 💃🏼

      • The avalanche determination just came recently, something like last couple of months. There were a lot of theories, from flying saucers to abominable snowman to an errant military weapons test. I would gone with the errant weapons test as the Soviet/Russian military were/are very poor in everything they do. (I would have used ‘sloppy’ but that’s part of your blog name.)

        Stay warm, Hedy.

        • We had a few days of warmth a few large chunks of ice left on the rivers edge and now some rain…so let the growth begin 🌱☀️that’s a fascinating story David…😂😅sloppy indeed…I’m going to search some more myself now 🤓🙏thanks for this appreciated 🌱

  8. What Michael said! 😂 I’m jealous of his incredibly thoughtful insight 😂 Also – wonderful images Hedy. Beautifully captured. I especially love the woman with the Beatles pins – you captured that she’s so proud of, and delighted with them.
    Alison

    • I completely understand Alison…🤓and thank you for saying…she was proud and delighted…I asked if she would show me her bag and we talked about Paul💙it was a tender moment…I learned more…hugs hedy

  9. Intimate images, Hedy. I love the contrast between the Beatles buttons as expressive adornments vs. the permanency of tattoos.

    • yes…it’s all curious to me…in a good way…thought a lot about art and artists…

sending you joy ~ hugs hedy 🙏☀️

  10. Yes, the teachings as he really taught them, free of religiosity — but he taught them from within his own cultural context, and so still within a cultural package. As are well all! It is our work to transcend, as best we can…

    • for sure Penny always negating our subjectivities…try our best within our narratives of knowing…sending you joy for a good walk👣🐾the sun is out here ~ hugs hedy

  11. Separate reflexion from religion? Good plan. 👏🏻

  12. Great cultural packaging images, Hedy! 😉
