According to Buddha

When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever. And you look at the tree and you allow it. You see why it is the way it is. You sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way. And you don’t get all emotional about it. You just allow it. You appreciate the tree. The minute you get near humans, you lose all that. And you are constantly saying ‘You are too this, or I’m too this.’ That judgment mind comes in. And so I practice turning people into trees. Which means appreciating them just the way they are.

and the seasons they go round and round
and the painted ponies go up and down
we’re captive on the carousel of time
we can’t return we can only look behind
from where we came
and go round and round and round
in the circle game

i am a workin’ (wo)man
but i ain’t worked for a while
like some old tin can
from the bottom of the pile
from the bottom of the pile

i have lost my way
but i hear tell
about a heaven in alberta
where they’ve got all hell for a basement

my words are like a rope
that’s wrapped around my throat
wash my mouth with soap
for words unfit to quote

and now i’m free to go
but time cannot remove
the only life i know
now only time will prove
yes only time will prove

yeah i lost my way
but i hear tell
about a heaven in alberta
where they’ve got all hell for a basement

According to Buddha

On the other side, is substantialism, more materialism, everything is real to the extent we can see or measure it, and things are as real as I think they. That’s way too materialistic or substantialist, because things are not really what they seem to be.

According to Buddha

If you are infected with the germs of worry you should go on a strict mental diet. You should feast regularly on the society of joyful minds. Every day you should associate, if only for a little while, with joy-instilled persons–those who meditate and feel the joy of spirit as a reality. Seek them out and feast with them on this most vitalising food of joy. Feast on laughter in the company of these really joyful people. Steadfastly continue your laughter diet once you have begun it, and at the end of a month or two you will see the change–your mind will be filled with sunshine.

Avoid a negative approach to life. Why gaze down the sewers when there is loveliness all around us? One may find some fault in even the greatest masterpieces of art, music, and literature. But isn’t it better to enjoy their charm and glory?
