According to Buddha

Mediation won’t free us completely from all obstructions in us on the first day, but it is the beginning of a road we can travel that will reveal increasing divine light as we purify and open our nervous system further each day. The guru is in you.

if i don’t turn around, you’ll always know where to find me
here’s to the lucky ones, let’s drink to better days
to you and yours everywhere, this one’s on me (for a change)
don’t cry for me, remember that no one and nothing is free
nothing is nothing and everything is so far away.

According to Buddha

No matter how busy we are, we should not forget now and then to free our minds completely from worries and all duties….Try to remain for one minute at a time without thinking negatively, fixing the mind on the peace within, especially if worried. Then try to remain for several minutes with a quiet mind. Following that, think of some happy incident; dwell on it and visualize it; mentally go through some pleasant experience over and over again until you have forgotten your worries entirely.

the last time i saw my home and all my friends

that all the time i spend away is endlessly
making everything so much better

then the loud sound did seem to fade
came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase
that weren’t no d.j. that was hazy cosmic jive
there’s a starman waiting in the sky
he’d like to come and meet us
but he thinks he’d blow our minds

According to Buddha

This life is strange. Everything is subject to change. That is why one should not anchor one’s happiness on this life. Our time will pass on; what you are seeing now will be gone one day. Change is good if you don’t let it hurt you. When it does hurt, the rebellion you feel is meant to show you that you should not have any desires.

i got a cabin in the country
and the tin roof rattles
when the rain comes down
where the wind through the pine
helps me unwind
while the world goes ’round
i’m gonna live, laugh, love, just for today
gonna take all the trouble and put it away
gonna drink every drop of happiness
’til they cover me up
i’m gonna live, gonna laugh, gonna love

According to Buddha

True friendship consists in being mutually useful in offering one’s friend good cheer in distress, sympathy in sorrow, advice in trouble, and material help in times of real need. Friendship consists in rejoicing in the good fortune of one’s friends and in sympathizing with them in adversity. One who has given his friendship to another gladly foregoes selfish pleasures or self-interest for the sake of his friend’s happiness, without consciousness of loss or sacrifice, and without counting the cost.

muskrat susie, muskrat sam
do the jitterbug out in muskrat land
and they shimmy
and sammy’s so skinny
and they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
singin’ and jingin’ the jango
floatin’ like the heavens above
it looks like muskrat love

feeling my way through the darkness
guided by a beating heart
i can’t tell where the journey will end
but i know where to start
they tell me i’m too young to understand
they say i’m caught up in a dream
well life will pass me by if i don’t open up my eyes
well that’s fine by me
so wake me up when it’s all over
when i’m wiser and i’m older
all this time i was finding myself
and i didn’t know i was lost
