According to Buddha

When immortals behave like mortals, they experience the changes of joy, sorrow, and indifference in their natures. That is why you must destroy this grafted nature of changeability on your unchangeable nature of joy. And when you have found your own nature of unchangeable joy, you will be able to enjoy everything, either pleasant or disagreeable with your unchangeable, indestructible joy. Your joy will stand unshaken amidst the crash of breaking earthly pleasures.

you woke a little early when the sun took at the night
in another city someone’s turning on a light
everyone’s the same in a hundred other ways
spinning off in circles ’til the atoms hit the rails
the atoms hit the rails
you’re last, you’re least, you love, you lose
you fall, you break, you’re someone new
everything is making you

when i cross over will you meet me
will you walk me to the bright
will you lead me on the dance floor
of that everlasting light

in the meantime
here on earth time
i am something of a song
but i once drank your
whole abandon
wanting only to belong

you have helped me to be tender
you have taught me to be true

i went empty
up a mountain
and brought back
a piece of you

Throughout the ages, the strong motivating force of human love has been expressed in diverse ways—filial, conjugal, friendly, family, serviceful, humanitarian. All human love is borrowed from Divine Love, but by comparison is a meager expression.

well we come with what was on our backs
yeah, when the leaves had died and all turned black
back when the wind was cold and blew them ’round
when we laid our blankets on the ground
yeah and i woke up feelin’ hungry
lookin’ straight into the sun, and left a cold night on the ground
like a dog on the run

According to Buddha

Somehow all things have perfectly come together to bring us into existence, the chemical reactions, water, the perfect temperature, the perfect gravitational force…somehow, organisms started evolving on this beautiful earth, the sunlight providing life to everything, and the perfect system to assimilate the energies and sustain life, then came the fish and the frog and the monkey and the man.

According to Buddha

It is not your passing thoughts or brilliant ideas so much as your plain everyday habits that control your life…Live simply. Don’t get caught in the machine of the world — it is too exacting. By the time you get what you are seeking your nerves are gone, the heart is damaged, and the bones are aching. Resolve to develop your spiritual powers more earnestly from now on. Learn the art of right living. If you have joy you have everything, so learn to be glad and contented…Have happiness now.

one world, one world (we only got)
one world, one world (that’s all we got)
one world, one world
and something’s wrong with it (yeah)
something’s wrong with it (yeah)
something’s wrong with the wo-wo-world, yeah
we only got
(one world, one world)
that’s all we got

Modern life is becoming very unsatisfactory. It does not give you happiness. There are too many things, too many desires. More nice cars and dresses and entertainments—and more worries. Free yourself from these so-called “necessities”…

leading me on
leading me down the road
driving me on
driving me down the road
my love is exceeding the limit
red-eyed and fevered with the hum of the miles
distance and longing, my thoughts do provide
should i rest for a while at the side?

According to Buddha

Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.

take it from me
when you start it’s just a matter of time
any minute you will cross that line
take it from me
you never think about the price that you pay
take it from me
it got a mind of its own and it stings
take it from me
it got a mind of its own and it stings
nothing can stop me
nothing holds me back
think you could slow me down?

Many great works of art, poetry, and music are inspired by astral memories. The desire to do noble, beautiful things here on Earth is also often a carryover of astral experiences between a person’s earth lives.

’twas in another lifetime one of toil and blood
when blackness was a virtue, the road was full of mud
i came in from the wilderness a creature void of form
and if i pass this way again you can rest assured
i’ll always do my best for her on that i give my word
in a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be warm
“come in,” she said,
“i’ll give you shelter from the storm.”
