According to Buddha

Fixed ideas are like a wisp of cloud or smoke, but nonetheless people find themselves blocked or captured by these. You would laugh if you saw someone tripped by a cloud, or if someone claimed that they were imprisoned by the air. But, in fact, people are endlessly being trapped by things no more substantial than air or clouds. They make a wall with their mind, and then it imprisons them. Inherently, there is no wall or anything to trip over. These things are mirages they’ve created from the thoughts they gave rise to.

and i see you hiding your face in your hands
talking bout far-away lands
you think no one understands
listen to my hands

According to Buddha

The way in which you are part of the web of life, of incarnation, is around the dimensions, you could call it, of compassion, suffering or dealing with suffering. That when you have a society that is built on the denial of other people’s suffering, for the myths of the society to be lived out, you have a very frightened society, and you have all the pathology that comes from fear.

The first part is just acknowledging what is – just acknowledging what is.

According to Buddha

Love gives without expecting anything in return. I never think of anyone in terms of what he can do for me. And I never profess love to someone because he has done something for me. If I didn’t actually feel love, I wouldn’t pretend to give it; and since I feel it, I give it. Love cannot be had for the asking; it comes only as a gift from the heart of another. Be certain of your feeling before you say to anyone, ‘I love you’. Once you give your love, it must be forever. Not because you want to be near that person, but because you want perfection for that soul. To wish for perfection for the loved one, and to feel pure joy in thinking of that soul, is divine love; and that is the love of true friendship.

don’t know much about geography,
don’t know much trigonometry
don’t know much about algebra,
don’t know what a slide rule is for
but i do know that one and one is two,
and if this one could be with you,
what a wonderful world this would be

According to Buddha

In meditation, you must go beyond thought. As long as you are busy thinking, you are in your rational mind, on the conscious plane. When you sleep and dream, you are on the subconscious plane, and in your astral body. And when your mind is fully withdrawn in superconsciousness, it becomes centered in the bliss of the spine. You are then in your ideational, or causal, body. That is the level of the soul’s existence.

walk me out in the morning dew, my honey
walk me out in the morning dew today
i can’t walk you out in the morning dew, my honey
i can’t walk you out in the morning dew today

where have all the people gone, my honey?
where have all the people gone today?
there’s no need for you to be worried about all those people
you don’t never see those people anyway

i guess it doesn’t matter anyway
i guess it doesn’t matter anyway
i guess it doesn’t matter anyway
i guess it doesn’t matter anyway

The journey from samsara to nirvana involves a passionate and deepening desire for a certain kind of self-sufficiency. Solitude needs more championing.
